Expanded Support & Streamlined Application Now Live

Big changes were launched earlier this month! AFAS expanded our categories of support and simplified the way Airmen, Guardians, and their families apply for assistance.

New Categories of Support
To better meet the evolving needs of our Air and Space Force families, we’ve added several new categories of financial assistance, including:

• Car seats & booster seats
• Mental health counseling
• Adoption fees
• Domestic violence relocation support
• Basic furniture for new households
• Home repair
• Immigration expenses
• Overseas car rentals
• Vehicle shipment costs during PCS

Single Application Process
AFAS integrated Falcon Loan requests into the standard process, creating one single, streamlined application. Whether a member qualifies for a no-interest loan or a grant they do not need to repay, they now apply in one place.

Learn more about these changes here.

Reminder – Child Care Assistance for PCS Moves

PCS season is here, and we want to remind families that AFAS can help cover the cost of short-term childcare during this busy time! Our Child Care for PCS program offers:

• $200 payments per child (up to $1,000 per family)
• Funds can be used for any safe and supervised care arrangement, not just licensed providers
• Payments are made directly to members via Zelle or ACH

In the News: AFSA Magazine Feature

Air Force Aid Society is proud to be featured in the Spring edition of AFSA Magazine with the article: “Readiness Starts at Home – How AFAS Supports Our Forces.”

The article highlights how AFAS helps Airmen, Guardians, and their families stay mission ready by providing critical financial support, scholarships, family programs and disaster relief. Because military life is full of challenges, we want to help restore stability, focus, and readiness when life disrupts the mission.

We’re honored to be featured. Read the full article here.

Campaign to Connect – Luke AFB Visit

As part of our Campaign to Connect, AFAS CEO Maj. Gen (Ret.) Ed Thomas and his wife, Dinah, recently visited Luke Air Force Base, the largest fighter base in the world. During his visit, they met with leaders from the Military & Family Readiness Center, public affairs and command teams, first sergeants, and the Retirees Activity Office. They also engaged with Airmen and their families in Bundles for Babies and Elevate classes.

The feedback received was overwhelmingly positive, and together, we are making a real difference in the lives of those who serve!

CSU Scholarship Winners

We are proud to announce and celebrate this year’s Columbia Southern University (CSU) scholarship winners: Nelcy Ávila and Rose Oscar.

Each will receive a 60-credit-hour scholarship to pursue an associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree at CSU. This annual scholarship program is open exclusively to the spouses of Airmen and Guardians. The application process will open again in early January 2026.

We wish them both continued success in their educational journeys!

Did You Know – AFAS Helps with Basic Living Expenses

AFAS provides financial assistance to Airmen, Guardians, and their families facing difficulty with basic living expenses. Assistance is available for:

• Rent and mortgage payments
• Utilities
• Car payments
• Cell phone bills
• …and more

For those that may be struggling to make ends meet, AFAS stands ready to help – because no one should face hardship alone. Learn more or apply here: www.afas.org.

Supporting Organization Spotlight – Fisher House Foundation

This month, we want to highlight another valued partner, Fisher House Foundation. This organization builds homes and provides free lodging to military families while loved ones are in a hospital receiving medical care. Thanks to Fisher House, hundreds of thousands of families have been able to stay close during challenging times. We’re proud to collaborate with this exceptional organization.

One Gift, Twice the Impact

Did you know your donation to Air Force Aid Society could go twice as far, at no extra cost to you?

Many employers offer matching gift programs that will match charitable contributions dollar for dollar. All you have to do is check with the HR department or visit the company’s giving portal. It’s one of the easiest ways you can double the impact – and help us support even more families!
